Application
β-glucan is an anti-nutritional factor in feed that cannot be hydrolyzed by the digestive enzymes secreted by monogastric animals. Water-soluble β-glucan dissolves in water to form a high-viscosity solution. This increases the viscosity of gastrointestinal foodstuffs, hindering the release and diffusion of nutrients, reducing the activity of digestive enzymes, and lowering the digestion and absorption of nutrients. The addition of β-glucan to animal feed can break down plant cell walls, reducing chow viscosity and increasing digestive enzyme activity. This promotes nutrient digestion and absorption, reduces harmful microorganism fermentation in the hindgut, stabilizes feed quality, and improves animal performance.
