Closantel base is a yellowish powder at room temperature, odourless or slightly odourless, soluble in ethanol or acetone, insoluble in water or in chloroform.
Application
Closantel base is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic with good activity against a wide range of trematodes, nematodes, and arthropod larvae; its anti-trematode activity is mainly directed against liver flukes, while its anti-nematode and anti-arthropod larval activity is mainly directed against blood or plasma-feeding organisms. The product is widely used in cattle and sheep for all types of infections by the above parasites, either orally or parenterally, and has both therapeutic and prophylactic effects. It can be used in combination with different products for different animals.
